Just posting to say that after a summer-long hiatus, I will begin updating here again. Gus will be starting school – 4th grade – Holy Cow!! We survived the holidays by balancing a frenetic social calender with a few days of doing absolutely nothing. I think we all appreciated those days, and it [...] Due to a rare burst of energy, along with a rare, yet perfect alignment of the stars, we took the kids to the playground today. We figured it would be empty (like it usually is) so we took the soccer ball intending to let them practice a little. A little boy from down the street came [...] This has been a very up and down weekend. On one hand, Gus has been having meltdowns on and off, but on the other hand, he’s had a couple of pretty cool things as well. Yesterday was picture day for the soccer league. Gus and MM each had to take pictures with their teams and then [...] Good morning! Hope you had a lovely weekend as we prepare to enter into autumn. This past weekend we made some decisions about the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine and had soccer practice. SoccerGus had a crisp morning for his 2nd soccer practice & game of the season. The team has grown quite a bit and [...] I’ve gone far beyond the weekend, but it was so busy, this is the first chance I’ve had to update, and I’ll have to be quick or there will be two hungry children gnawing on my kneecaps pretty soon. Saturday we had a beautiful morning for soccer. Gus was a little sluggish because it’s allergy season [...] Social functions can be a nightmare for parents of a child with autism (and for the child for that matter). But they don’t have to be. With enough planning and preparation, your child can attend those functions with relatively few problems. Yesterday, we took Gus to an engagement party for a good friend [...] Yesterday I got to take Gus to his soccer game! It was awesome, in large part because we had an almost 90 degree day yesterday, so in the morning, the temperature was perfect for hanging out watching a game. I saw some of his teammates from the fall season and a couple of additions. [...] |
