Busy Sick Day

I thought I would be keeping Gus busy today, but it seems he’s turned the tables on me.  Even though he has to be home, he feels all right, so he’s had lots of energy.  We started off our day by getting MM off to school – she was a little annoyed that her brother got to stay home again (accused him of faking it at one point; what a good little sister).

Once we got home, he challenged me to Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics.  We played a few rounds of a geography board game, goofed off with a sillier card game, and then had a snack.  He let me do some work for a bit and watched television before having  lunch, after which we played Legend of Zelda and then did Spelling, Math and Reading homework. We had planned on a Science board game (Skeletons in the Closet) but never got to it.

He just started a reading program that the school does every year called PARP – Parents As Reading Partners – in which we have to read 15 minutes, 5 days a week for 4 weeks.  So we started on the Artemis Fowl graphic novel he got for Christmas.  Another snack, and now he’s playing another Zelda game on the Wii.  I have been told that he wants “to be alone.”  Apparently, I’ve outlived my usefulness (at least until he gets to a part in the game that’s giving him trouble).

He’s got bowling tonight.  As much as he wants to go and insists he’s feeling fine, I think it would be a bad idea to take him.  MM will be home soon.  I’m sure they’ll find some way to harass entertain each other.

All in all it’s been a pretty good day – we rarely get to spend a day alone.  I’ll still be glad for a break though!  Have a great weekend!
